About Me

I have always been interested in health, self-care, and living a balanced life. After working in the corporate world for a number of years, I realized it was time to find a career that better fit my personality and enabled me to pursue my passion for taking care of the mind, body, and spirit.

From Jan 2008 through March 2009, I attended Cortiva Chicago School of Massage Therapy and became a licensed massage therapist in May 2009. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). Since becoming licensed, I have built a clientele receiving treatments in their homes as I travel throughout the Chicagoland area. I currently offer Swedish/relaxation massage, deep tissue massage, and trigger point therapy. In the future, I plan on continuing my education and building my skills through reflexology, aromatherapy, pregnancy massage, and manual lymph drainage.

My professional experience also includes massage therapy at Vaught Chiropractic in Midlothian, IL. On numerous occasions, I have filled in providing massage therapy to clients experiencing various complaints such as low back pain, rotator cuff problems, sciatica, issues of limited range of motion, and more. From Dec. 2010 through May 2011 I performed massage and body treatments while working at Jonathan Kane Salon & Spa in Flossmoor, IL. Since June 2011, I have been working as a massage therapist and yoga teacher at Essential Chiropractic in Palos Hills, IL.

Since June 2009, I have also been actively volunteering my services to cancer patients. I am very interested in oncology massage and the practice of massage therapy to aid in the healing process and well being of those affected by cancer. I volunteer one to two days per week massaging cancer patients free of charge through Faye's Light (http://www.fayeslight.org/). Treatments are provided through the Faye's Light Center in East Hazel Crest, IL and through bedside services at Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, IL. Through this work, I have gained experience working with those undergoing radiation, chemotherapy, and other cancer treatments as well as working around various medical devices (ports, IVs...) and side effects that they may be experiencing. Upon meeting with the patient, I am able to tailor the massage to give them the most comfort and relaxation safely while accounting for their condition.

My other interests include nutrition, excercise/stretching, dancing, and pets. Outside of massage therapy, I also teach yoga as well as perform and teach bellydancing. In my free time, I enjoy jogging, reading, and spending time with my dogs and rabbits.
